Sarah Patrick

Sarah was brought up in Sheffield and didn’t venture far for her MChem degree which she completed at the University of Sheffield. Her third year was spent on placement at GSK at their R&D site in Stevenage working on Hit-To-Lead chemistry. Her final year was spent working with Prof. Simon Jones, aiming to synthesise novel atropisomers for potential applications in catalysis. After spending 21 of her 22 years up North she decided to see if the South really is any sunnier and joined Imperial College London as part of the MRes/PhD CDT REACT programme. The project is a collaboration between the Crimmin, Bull, and Miller groups. The aim being to transform industrially relevant HFO gases into fluorinated building blocks and use them as novel motifs in drug discovery. Away from the lab, Sarah loves going to concerts and the theatre and can always be persuaded to go for a drink whether that’s a hot chocolate or a glass of wine (or two).
