Richard Kong

Richard was born in China, and grew up in Sydney, Australia. He moved to Canberra to undertake a Bachelor of Philosophy (Science) (Honours) at the Australian National University, with his final Honours year supervised by Professor Anthony Hill. Upon completion of his degree in 2016, in a bid to move to ever-colder locations, Richard joined the Crimmin group as a President’s Scholar in October 2017. Despite being in the UK for over three years now, he is still sceptical of the virtues of the full English breakfast but has become a full convert to Yorkshire tea. His projects include the activation of C–C bonds using main-group reagents, and CO homologation using a main-group reductant and transition-metal CO source. Outside the lab he enjoys running, cooking (and baking), theatre, and a post-work pint.
