Joe Parr

Joe grew up in rural Leicestershire with two welsh parents, which caused quite the argument during the six nations. He received his M.Chem(Int) from the University of Leeds, with a study abroad year at the University of South Carolina, where he worked with Prof Dwayne Heard and Prof. Richard Adams, respectively. In 2018 he moved to the University of Southern California to work on some organometallic and single-molecule electronic studies with Prof. Michael Inkpen, obtaining an M.Sci in Chemistry. After two years of being perpetually sunburnt he traded palm trees and beaches for rainy days and the tube, accepting a Schrödinger Scholarship in the Crimmin Group. Here his project focuses on exploring earth-abundant metal reactivity, with a particular focus on utilisation of C1 feedstocks. Outside of the lab he is known for his poor coffee making abilities and his ever willingness to go for a pint
