Our research group develops new chemical reactions that hold promise for the recycling of environmentally damaging fluorocarbons and upgrading of molecules from sustainable sources. We investigate new concepts, catalysts and reagents based on sustainable metals from across the periodic table.

Recent News
- 23rd June: The group spent the day presenting talks and posters at the PG symposium. Congrats to Rowan and Siim who both won prizes for their presentations.
- 17th June 2026: Some collaborative work with the Miller group on the mechanism of a photocatalytic aminocarbonylation reaction is now published in JACS. Some surprising kinetic results in this one, including identification of photon-limited and non photon-limited reaction rates. New understanding of the turnover-limiting step ultimately led to improved catalyst performance and scope.
- 25th May 2026: Our work on a crystalline spiropentane and its rearrangment to a silacyclobutane is now out in Org. Lett.
- 12th May 2026: Massive congratulations to Shannon Farley who passed her PhD viva today!
- 1st April 2026: Welcome to Raphael Buehler who joins us as a visting DFG Scholar on a two year postdoctoral scholarship.
